Conclusion for Lab 31
"
The Milky Way is a spiral galaxy with four spiral arms of blue and pink colour in the circular disk around the central bulge. The bulge is yellowish spherical shape about 20,000 light years across and made up of mostly older stars. Globular clusters of older stars are also found in the halo surrounding the bulge and disk.
"I'm not sure anything can be definitively proven, but being able to measure other stars orbiting a common central point seems a likely indicator of rotation and being able to see the dust patterns that look like the spiral arms seen in other galaxies seems a likely indicator of the galaxy being spiral.
