I remain (at) large
For whatever reason, I've started paying closer attention to Poetry.com. (Probably because, having accepted that I no longer hate poetry, I find it sort of interesting. Also, apparently there are these huge checks being given out for writing utter crap. Sign me up -- I can do this!)

So, I harkened to the beat of their daily haiku contest, especially since rules are relaxed on the weekends. (In order to make it to the shall-we-say speed round, you have to be one of the 21 contestants who pressed "Submit" closest to the random time selected. Then, a panel of unknown judges picks the fave from that lot. Except on the weekend, when the person closest to the chosen time simply wins.)

Inspired by this photo (their selection, not mine), I whipped out a 5-7-5 as follows:

Broken cloud waking
Rain-warmth sugars the red steps
To your rising breaths

(Yes, I know I have had two poems in a row with the word "waking." Out of respect to my dear hamster's obit, this blog entry will stay in draft mode for awhile longer.)
