On Sunday, we didn't plan to go back to Town Square. We started with a trip to the UNLV area (icky ick) for some Indian buffet:
That's Sai India Curry on Maryland, just south of Tropicana. It doesn't look like much - it is little more than a square, tiled room with a bank of chafing dishes against the wall - but the people are nice and the food was quite spicy and tasty. Here's the obligatory shot of Mike sitting by the window, but as you see, this time we didn't stop stuffing our faces to take photos until the plates were clean:
High points: paneer(!!!) with one of those orange-y sauces, samosas, very spicy potatoes, cilantro chutney (as always, SORRY HEATHER!), and some of the best pakora ever - crispy and chewy.
Oh, and the fresh naan. Droolsies.
The Indian grocery a few doors down has more stuff than any other place I've seen in town, including a drunk who wants a quarter for a beer. (I had to sit on my tongue to keep from getting into a discussion about where you can get a beer for a quarter. I guess you could walk to the Strip, put the quarter in a slot, and stiff the cocktail waitress.)
I suckered Mike into going around the corner to the exotic pet shop. The one with the degus. The one with the mottled dwarf hams. The one with the...
(The bunny had no problem just lying there, chilling out, while I pet it. It loves me. I WANT. GIMME.)
(Whimper.)
And then it was back to TS, home of a Godiva chocolate shop, home of the CHOCOLIXIR.
We both had a Milk Chocolate Decadence. It was... sensational. Like someone really figured out how to make an iced chocolate drink taste like instant therapy.
(If only we didn't have to take it with an awkward discussion about why I wouldn't put our phone number on the "special offer" mailing list sign-up sheet. The clerk, nice but really confused, asked me if it was because I didn't remember my phone number. Yes, she really did.)
(But, "Chocolixir" is the most aptly named product I've consumed this year.)
Then we went to Rave Motion Pictures to see Prince Caspian. Which super-sucked, FYI. But the wide chairs and crispy digital projection of the new cinema was quite nice.
Postscript:
Today I came home a bit early and we went back, yes - BACK - to Town Square. We had an unexpectedly delicious lunch at California Pizza Kitchen, which - it turns out - tastes nothing like the yellow boxes in Frozen Foods. I got the wild mushroom pizza and fresh peach lemonade. (Mushroom walnut pesto! Fontina! Free fresh lemonade refills!) Mike took a chance with the chipotle chicken pizza and is still complimenting it, six hours later. (I stuck a pinky into the lime cilantro cream sauce and it was too good for this world.)
Meanwhile, the economic stimulus check came this afternoon. Do I get extra credit for firing up the Visa card early?

Gads, 2 cilantro mentions in ONE POST?! I will forgive you because clearly summer holidays have ALREADY addled your brain (and your taste buds.)
And because those bunnies have fried MY brain. SQUISHY FLUFFY WIDDLE NUM NUMS!!!!
