Four Excuses to Link Videos and Ignore the Clock

Mike's new American phone arrived yesterday, so now we can actually communicate during the day without using school email or web-based+international texting.

Of course, I've spent hours taking the right photo to pop up when he calls and, now, looking for a personalized ringtone. (Still trying to decide if I want a separate one for texts, or if the default beep-beep is more efficient.)

Don't remind me that my phone will usually be on vibrate.

Much as I like the songs below, there are, without exaggeration, at least 1000 other songs I'd pick before them. Alas, Virgin Mobile offers a feeble menu of tunes. (I'm out of the loop and lazy - where do the free high quality ringtones come from these days?)

So, first-through-thousandth choices aside, these are The Finalists:

Billy Idol's "Sweet Sixteen." No good reason other than I have a cold (a COLD! in AUGUST! the day before SCHOOL starts!) and this has the right kind of melancholy for my nasal despair.

Weird Al's "White and Nerdy." No, wait, appropriate but I'm a little tired of it for the moment. So, we're down to four, and here are the other three.

Johnny Cash's version of "Ring of Fire." Clipped and cool. And a little romantic, I guess.

Peter Gabriel's "Solsbury Hill." Uplifting, but not to the exclusion of more complex emotions.

Leonard Cohen's "The Future." Because it's an anthem to decisiveness, regardless of what's decided.

But I don't know if I can decide without a cream puff. Filled with an extra scoop of August. Fastest summer ever.
