While Letting Richard Gere Do His Thing
Watching I'm Not There right now. Caught bits of The Hoax again yesterday. I never know how to feel about Richard Gere. (But I do think he was great in The Hoax. Not sure yet about I'm Not There.)

I broke down and accepted a Facebook friend request from someone I don't know but who has a common interest. My, this slope is slippery.

We had Bellagio buffet for lunch yesterday and - mmm! - so good! It's a fish-fest beyond shrimp and sushi, which is surprisingly rare in Vegas buffets (the all-seafood buffet at the Rio aside), but the pesto mashed potatoes, mushroom ravoli with hint of truffle, bread, and, well, everything that landed on my plate was just terrific. Oh, and they have ginger ale. Nice.

(Which I guess means I forgive the cashier for brusquely telling Mike to "tip cash at the table." Yeah, we always tip, probably overtip, but it's a boggling cultural point with Mike on a good day, and telling him to tip is not wise. Not that he'd punish the server for the crassness of the cashier, and the server was great - friendly and fast.)

I think Cricket is 95% herself. All of the hamsters have had a good weekend. I'm aware of the sharp decline in videoing their every romp, but the dim lighting here is just exasperating, plus we're bunked down.

Did I mention here that sometime during the night on Tuesday my wisdom tooth broke (further)? And the remaining proceeded to rough up my tongue and lower gums? And the more I talked, the worse it felt, the more it swelled, the more I drooled and slurred? And I was about to crack and finally arrange to get it extracted, like a sensible grown-up, but the puffy heat finally diminished, and ibuprofen has been covering the rest? And I've learned how to talk around the problematic consonants? So I'm going to continue postponing the headache that will mean taking time off, copping to multiple dental sins, getting X-rays, arranging taxis, and swiping the Visa card?

But, I did make the baby step of bopping in to the dentist across the street and getting an oral surgeon recommendation. (Which I've since discarded in favour of a guy with a better website, but it's the effort that counts.)

Richard Gere was also good in And the Band Played On. I liked Looking for Mr. Goodbar, but not because of him. And... I admit to being the only person who gets bored during Days of Heaven. I should re-watch Sommersby. But never First Knight. And again, The Hoax was pretty terrific, and it was because of him (and Alfred Molina). I've never noticed his teeth.
