Spring Break! (featuring Mmmmm at M)

It's here!

One week of Kindle-ing (no, you can't have that review yet - still marinating in drool), WoWing (when oh when will Mr Pinchy bless me with the Magical Crawdad?), and eating at new casino "M"'s buffet during all other waking moments.

The last might be hard, but I know there's a breakfast and maybe a lunch at M somewhere in the week ahead.

Let's put it this way: we've already eaten there twice this week. Two days in a row. Granted, we had a 2-for-1 the first time and free vouchers that expired soon the second time (what you get when joining the slot club), but perqs aside, it is deeeeelicious.

So delicious, so holy, photos refuse to capture it.

Mike with His Sorbet and Gelato

There's Mike, posing with his white peach sorbet and raspberry sorbet. Or maybe one was a gelato. I got mint chocolate gelato and coconut gelato. The next day Mike had the coconut instead of the peach, and I added the nougat gelato. (Like a creamy Toblerone ice cream, but without the chocolate.) If you are a fellow M-ateer, you are fascinated by these details. (If you haven't been yet, you might not understand all the mental wrestling that comes with narrowing down one's selection. It's all so good!)

Thomas Kemper on Tap - INCLUDED

On the left you can kind of see the bartender serving free wine and beer. Wine, beer, WHATEVER. Let's talk about the all-you-can-drink Thomas Kemper root beer on tap. Oh yes oh yes oh yes.

Star Trek Slot - Big Win

The Star Trek slots were good to us on both trips.

What you don't see are the discreet bar areas placed around the casino where you can grab a free soda. Not just any soda, but a Coca-Cola product. That means a lot here in Pepsitown. Yes, I know you can get "free" sodas from cocktail waitresses (with tip), but I'm cheap and I don't like to sit at a machine and play while I wait. Fanta, Barqs, Mr Pibb - it's all there

Pedicure Peek - Spa at M

Even the spa looks good. Everyone on the property has been so friendly do far, like - Disney-friendly, I feel like I could get some "work" done without a snooty staredown at my split ends. Maybe. I do have a 25%-off coupon...

Pool - M

I doubt we'll ever dip in this pool (although the website hints at poolside concerts), but the pharmacy next to the casino floor looks tastefully quaint, and I know we'll be getting bread from the bakery. (It's the same wonderful - not Wonder - bread they serve at the buffet. Back to the buffet! I also recommend the cream of mushroom soup, the smoked cheddar and swiss and - in fact - all the other cheeses, the alfredo penne with peas, the cheese ravioli with butternut squash, the flatbread, the rigatoni, the mashed potatoes... all of the carbs, actually. And Mike eats all of the meat, although not the squid or octopus. But just the fact that they have squid and octopus, right?)

Mike Outside of M

Mike's wearing his Sunset Station shirt here, but with the new M in town, I can't imagine going back to Sunset. Oh. wait, we went last night, for Mexican. All right, the salsa bar is a special exception, because - otherwise? I think we have a new "home casino." It's not far from home, it's away from traffic (being very south Strip), it smells really good inside, you'll never be thirsty, the piano bar has an uncluttered view of the Strip proper, and "they" say giveaways will be in the mail soon. And? The buffet is one of the four best in town, and probably the best value for the money.

(Hint: we found the lunch menu to be identical to dinner, so I'm guessing dinner might just have more fish/seafood to justify the $7 difference.)

(My other buffet picks are the Wynn, Tamba, and the Bellagio, To me, these all are reliable for quality, selection, and atmosphere, keeping in mind that Tamba is strictly Indian. Honorable mention to Rio, Planet Hollywood, and Paris for breakfast. Three great buffets, but Paris is unremarkable after the pancake hour sets, and the other two lack invention and complexity despite the wide range of fare.)
